The Texas Methane & Flaring Coalition applauds the second annual report from The Environmental Partnership, an industry led initiative committed to continuously improving the industry’s environmental performance.
The report highlights the expansion of the Partnership to include the midstream sector and has tripled its overall membership since launching in 2017. With the addition of the midstream sector, the Partnership will discuss commonsense actions to further reduce emissions from compressors and pipeline blowdowns within oil and natural gas transmission operations.
The Partnership also held workshops for operators to provide information on planning, best practices, and alternative technologies that reduce flaring volumes and improve flare reliability and efficiency when it does occur.
The report shows that methane emissions from five of the largest producing regions across the US have fallen nearly 70% as natural gas production in those regions tripled over the 2011-2018 period.
Increased membership, continued progress towards reduced emissions, and identifying and implementing innovative solutions are key for industry to continue producing the energy that is essential to our everyday lives while protecting our natural resources. The Coalition applauds the efforts of our industry members in developing solutions for our state and nation.
