In the recent “RRC Year in Review” report published by the Railroad Commission of Texas in December 2023, data shows a continued decline in flaring. The report details that “the flaring rate in Texas has dropped significantly, by 61 percent, since June 2019. For the most recent month that data is available, September 2023, the flaring rate was less than 1 percent, meaning more than 99 percent of gas produced in Texas was being beneficially used.”

All of the information can be found in the report found here.

In summary, the report showcases the seriousness with which  the Texas oil and natural gas industry is taking flaring reduction goals. The Texas Methane & Flaring Coalition is pleased to highlight these new numbers.
